Bernie is trying to be a writer. His wife is a busy GP. A woman turns up who Bernie recognises as the person he had a fling with the previous year. He is horrified to find out her true profession, and is totally confused when she insists on camping out in his orchard with her client. Things are bad for Bernie, but when a body appears in the orchard, they get worse. The only person who knows what is happening is Aunty Dot, who is a bit batty, consequently nobody believes her about the goings on in the orchard. Add to this, a pregnant woman making unreasonable demands, a handsome young doctor out of his depth, trying to do his best, Bernie’s teenage daughter who is blackmailing him, an irate builder who cannot get an answer from anybody, and Bernie gets in even deeper trouble.
